The goal of this project was to develop a distinguished brand around an unestablished grocery store. With this goal in mind, I conducted brand audits of similar existing brands and competitors, collected market research, and established the brand attributes of the grocery store I chose to create, Chez Nous. Chez Nous (French: /SHā/ no͞os, meaning “our home”), was developed as an upscale grocery store that sells prepared foods as well as fresh meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. Chez Nous is centered around the brand attributes: Welcoming, Artisanal, Sophisticated, and Sanitary.
Based on the research I conducted and the attributes selected, the solution I developed was to stick with a conservative, black-and-white color palette in order to allow the natural vibrancy of the food to be the primary focus against all branded elements. Beyond the clean logo design, I developed an iconographic pattern to be included on brand-related touch points such as the stationery items, wrapping paper, and grocery bag.
The signage system was developed to reference the meaning of Chez Nous (“our home”) and incorporates strategic messaging to communicate that Chez Nous carries everything you need for the 3 most important meals of the day. Therefore, I developed the marketing campaign. “Good Morning”, “Good Afternoon”, and “Good Night”. In addition, the messaging for an additional entrance sign reading, “Welcome to our Home”, was created to incorporate the Welcoming attribute of the brand.
